Lazy Summer Day

The shoes were still damp this morning but not sufficiently wet to serve as a viable excuse to sleep late. The Gumbo and wine last night put me to bed early, but I still woke up feeling groggy and lazy. Rob K was out on his TT bike, as was Courtney. I think Rob's looking forward to the track races this weekend at the Baton Rouge Velodrome, but he was also feeling deprived because of yesterday. After he bailed out and headed home before the ride started, he met a big thunderstorm downtown and got thoroughly drenched. Meanwhile, the rest of us were heading the other direction and managed to completely bypass the worst of the rain. So anyway, I guess that explains why he got to the front and pulled the group the whole way out and most of the way back. Not that he's all that great of a draft, you understand. I guess Rob's no taller than I, and when he' s on his TT bike it's hard for even me to get much of a draft.

Todd H. emailed that he's got the permissions and all completed for the district TT in September, so I think the only remaining unresolved race issue right now is the date of the district Team TT. So I guess there are maybe seven more regular race days in the La/Ms calendar this year, not including some other events that lots of the locals attend, such as the MS Tour and the annual pilgrimage up to the 6-Gap Century in Ga.

I got home feeling tired and sleepy and the feeling hasn't gone away except for a few minutes when I got all hot and bothered by the latest attempt by LSU to exclude the private universities from access to grant and endowment funding from the state's Board of Regents Support Fund. I've got someone from Data Systems coming up here in an hour to supposedly get me access to the research office's awards database. I'm fully expecting the ultimate outcome to be a royally screwed-up computer, based on prior experience.
